Local jazz singer and philosopher (now there's a combination) Barbara Underwood has set up a Barnes Philosophy Club. The aim will be to meet once per month.

"We had a super meeting on Wednesday 19th January, Professor Richard Ashcroft gave a talk on Health Care Ethics, and the autonomy of the patients, also how far doctors, health professionals and the state should intervene in the autonomy of a patient; what treatments, what goals and who defines the goal. Richard discussed the various paradigm models and helped to make the subject somewhat clearer. Also there were some very intelligent and well constructed questions for Richard in the debate that followed."
