Barbara Underwood has spotted the following item from the consumer organisation Which? and writes:
"Subscribers to Which? magazine have been sent a booklet "Your guide to tried and tested traders and services near..." and then it states whatever area - this one of course says "Barnes High Street". The scope goes as far afield as Putney. It was very interesting to see that the Real Cheese Shop, The Barnes Fish Shop, The Hardware Stores and Londis all received 5 stars in the ratings (being the highest Which? score).
The booklet looks a little sparse regarding other shop and local services, so I am assuming this is a new ongoing process by Which? magazine. On the last page of the booklet there is an opportunity for people to recommend traders on-line. It states:
"recommend a local trader on-line at www.which-local.co.uk, once you have registered we'd really love to hear your own recommendations for good local tradespeople and businesses in your area; ... once you've sent in your recommendations, we'll let you know that we've received it and when it'll go 'live' on the website"
This seems to me another splendid way to support our precious local shops.
